Is Fear Gripping Your Life? Learn From These Bold Bible Characters

Edmund Burke stated, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men [and women] to do nothing.” Have you ever been in a situation where you wished you would have said something or done something? Me too. I think we all have. Yet, it’s time that we no longer live with wishing and step out in boldness. Join me for a special episode of Living in the Light on the Charisma Podcast Network to discover how you can proclaim boldness in your life.

When Peter and John were arrested for preaching the gospel in Acts 4, they prayed for more boldness. Can you imagine? Many believers would pray for the persecution and trial to end, not to become even bolder. Yet, after the disciples prayed for this, they were filled with the Holy Spirit again (Acts 4:31). The church must! I am not advocating for beating people over the head with the Bible but to share Jesus without fear of rejection, embarrassment or shame. Then, the power and authority will return to the church, and we will dictate the moral and culture temperature of society, not the other way around.

What keeps you from being bold—fear of rejection, not knowing what to say, fear of embarrassment, fear of not fitting in or thinking your faith is a private matter? The bottom line for each of us is whether we really know Jesus and who we are in Him. Jesus was rejected, spit on, misunderstood, tired and betrayed. We need to recognize and realize there will be trials and tests, but we are never alone. We do not face anything without His presence or power. We must position our hearts to go deeper in our knowledge of the Lord and love Him with our whole being. Then, boldness will not be something to shrink back from, but people will know we have been with Jesus.

Here are a few ways to increase our boldness:

1. Spend time in the presence of the Lord. Nothing can replace being still and allowing the Lord to reveal Himself to you and who you are in Him.

3. Read apologetic writers such as C.S. Lewis, Lee Strobel, Rick Renner, Paul Copan, William Craig and others.

3. Pray and seek the Lord for His boldness.

Leonard Ravenhill said, “The world is not waiting for a new definition of the gospel, but for a new demonstration of the power of the gospel.” It’s time to be bold!
